So let the mind flow like water. Face life with a calm and quiet mind and everything in life will be calm and quiet. Water is the mirror of nature.
Concept:
The relationship between Black people and water is often nuanced and complex. A common stereotype suggests that Black people can’t swim. While this may hold true for some, like most stereotypes, it fails to capture the diversity and depth of individual experiences.
In this project, we aim to explore this complexity, examining the emotions and feelings that draw Black individuals toward water rather than away from it. The shoot centres on two Black individuals in proximity to cold water. Water holds many symbolic meanings, and for this project, we’ve chosen to focus on its role as a site of healing.
